Greetings from Louisiana

Mica DeAngelis, an academic advisor and coordinator of visual arts courses at CCV Burlington, and her husband Barry have spent the last three weeks working with Habitat for Humanity in Louisiana. Here is an update and some pictures that Mica recently sent us:

We volunteered for three weeks in Lacombe, LA, a city just north of New Orleans that was flooded after Hurricane Katrina. Most homes had 8 feet of water from the storm, others were totally destroyed by the winds, etc.. Habitat was building two houses a year in this city before the storm, this January we finished the 100th house since the storm hit. We were working with 20 other volunteers on a small development of 15 homes. I am painting baseboards in one photo, the other photo is of Barry and I outside the same home. A single mom of two will be moving into this house in April. We hope all is well in VT and look forward to returning soon.
